Grouse Grind Training Program

Join us for an 8-week outdoor fitness and wellness journey designed to support Indigenous women in building strength, confidence, and community while preparing to complete the iconic Grouse Grind.

Training sessions will take place at China Creek North Park, combining stair climbing, endurance training, stretching, and wellness-focused conversations in a supportive and encouraging environment. The program begins with a community-centered introductory session featuring icebreakers, a gratitude circle, snacks, and social time. Weekly sessions will then focus on gradually building fitness and endurance through accessible outdoor training.

Mandatory Sessions

  • Introductory Session: Thursday, June 18 (6:30 PM-8:30 PM)
  • Grouse Grind Challenge & Celebration: Sunday, July 12 (9:00 AM-2:00 PM)

Optional Training Sessions
Participants are strongly encouraged to attend as many training sessions as possible.

Program Details

  • Open to Indigenous women and gender-diverse community members
  • Participants will be selected based on availability and ability to attend the mandatory sessions
  • Training locations and Grouse Grind base are all transit-accessible
  • No previous hiking or fitness experience required. Participants should be comfortable walking and eager to engage in moderate physical activity.

  • Sunday, July 12 | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Mandatory Grouse Grind & Celebration)

Training sessions will focus on stair climbing, endurance, mobility, and building confidence on trail. The first session will include introductions, community-building activities, snacks, and wellness giveaways.
