Hunting & Food Sovereignty

indigenous women outdoors slide illustration 1

Through our hunting and food sovereignty programs, we create opportunities for Indigenous women* to nurture a culturally-grounded relationship with our plant and animal kin through traditional methods of gathering and hunting.

For Indigenous peoples, food is cultivated through a reciprocal relationship with the land, soil, water, and our plant and animal kin. In recognition of how colonialism has impacted Indigenous peoples ability to hunt, gather, and trap, Indigenous Women Outdoors offers hunting and food sovereignty programs as a means of cultural resurgence. We believe that by empowering Indigenous women* to practice traditional food systems, we also nurture healing, community, and food security for generations to come.
