Aiyana Anderson MacIsaac is the Executive Director of Indigenous Women Outdoors (IWO). She is of Nēhiyaw/Cree and Scottish descent and is currently based on the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.

Aiyana began her journey with the organization in 2020 as a participant in IWO’s first-ever program, the Introduction to Backcountry Mentorship Program. She later joined the Board of Directors as Board Secretary in 2022, serving until April 2025. In 2024, Aiyana created and led the Off-Piste and Introduction to Backcountry Safety program as Program Lead. IWO has become a core part of her life and community.

With a professional background in project management and business analysis, Aiyana brings experience across tech startups, retail, and non-profits. Her strengths include digital marketing, business development, and operational strategy, with a focus on building systems that support sustainable growth and strong relationships.

Aiyana is passionate about creating culturally safe, accessible outdoor spaces that uplift Indigenous women*, support leadership, and cultivate healing and connection. Her leadership is rooted in care, collaboration, and a people-first approach, carrying forward the values that have shaped IWO from the beginning.
