Orange Shirt Day Community Paddle

K'emk'emeláy̓ (Vancouver)

In honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day, we invite Indigenous women* to join us for a day of intentional community and reflection.

Together we will connect on the Coast Salish waters of the Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm, while Takaya Tour guides sing songs, tell legends and point out ancient village sites. After our paddle tour, we will gather for a shared lunch where participants can share in a culturally-safe space. An IWO-designed Orange Shirt will be provided for all attendees.

By spending a day together on the land, we hope to nurture healing and reciprocity in honour of the children who attended Residential Schools, and in gratitude for the Matriarchs, Elders, knowledge systems, and cultures that guide us forward.

Details:

  • Time: 9AM to 4PM
