Aiyana Anderson-MacIsaac is the Executive Director at Indigenous Women Outdoors (IWO). She began her journey with the organization in 2020 as a participant in IWO’s first-ever program, the Introduction to Backcountry Mentorship Program. She then joined the Board of Directors as a Board Secretary in 2022 and served until April 2025. In 2024, Aiyana created and led the Off-Piste and Introduction to Backcountry Safety program as its Program Lead. Aiyana is Nēhiyawak/Cree from White Fish Nation on her mother’s side and settler Canadian on her father’s side. Aiyana is passionate about fostering outdoor spaces that respect and celebrate Indigenous ways of being. Currently based on the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples, she is dedicated to advancing inclusive, culturally grounded outdoor programming.
