Field Skills Workshop- Wilderness Wise: Skills for the Land

Indigenous Women Outdoors invites you to embark on your land-based wilderness skills journey or refine the techniques you already possess.

In collaboration with EatWild, we will spend the day at Alice Lake Provincial Park exploring traditional and contemporary field skills.

Topics will include:

  • Map & compass use
  • Orienteering
  • How to build a fire
  • Plant and wildlife track ID

Program Details:

  • When: June 14
  • Time: 9 AM to 5 PM
  • Where: Alice Lake Provincial Park, Squamish, BC
    • Traditional territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation

Gear:

  • Please dress appropriately for the weather. If you need any gear, please let us know ahead of time so we can assist you.

Myia Antone is a proud youth from Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), with Ukrainian and Norwegian roots. Growing up in Squamish, she explored and loved taking care of the land that her ancestors have occupied since time immemorial.
