Katie (she/they) is from Belleville, Ontario, and has lived in Vancouver since September, 2020. Her Mohawk family is from the Francis family line of Akwesasne (bear clan). Her mixed-European ancestry is namely Scottish, German, and English. Having grown up camping with friends and family and guiding with Girl Guides around Ontario, Katie owes a lot of her give’r attitude to what she has learned from the land. Katie brings these learnings to her work as an Indigenous community planner and facilitator with Nations and organizations all over BC, and is increasingly interested in the dynamic relationship between Indigenous land sovereignty, community-building, and the accessibility of outdoor recreation opportunities. Katie can be found biking, climbing, dancing, crafting, and sharing soup — she is regularly finding ways to mix these activities together with friends involved, and is always seeking new adventures.

Katie has been on the Board of Directors with Indigenous Women Outdoors since Fall 2024. She lives in East Vancouver in Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territories.
