Heather is a nêhiyaw-iskwêw (Cree) from the Michel First Nation on her Mother’s side and mixed European, mainly Norwegian on her Father’s side. Heather works as a lawyer, helping Indigenous communities protect their rights and advance their interests and jurisdiction. In her work, Heather provides legal support to Indigenous clients on a wide range of matters involving Indigenous rights, governance and natural resource development.

Outside of her professional life, Heather loves to be outside, whether its skiing, hiking,camping or trying a new activity through IWO. She is also an avid runner – you can usually find her on the road or trails, training for her next race. Heather is also passionate about Indigenous language revitalization and has been dedicated to learning nêhiyawêwin for several years.
