Eryn Braley is a nehiyaw (Cree) woman and a member of the Saddle Lake Cree Nation in Treaty 6 territory from her Father’s side, and British and Irish occupier from her Mother’s side. Eryn was raised by her mom on unceded, stolen, and occupied Coast Salish territory. Growing up away from her home community and territories, Eryn is on a journey of reclaiming her identity as a nehiyaw woman by connecting with her territories, family, community, and culture.

Eryn is passionate about wholistic health and wellness. In her career, Eryn works within the healthcare system to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and embed Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, and inherent Indigenous rights.

Eryn has always had a profound love for the land – and has many memories growing up climbing trees, catching grasshoppers, and swimming in the rivers with her twin sister. As an adult, Eryn’s relationship with the land continues to grow through mindfulness and meditation, walking, trail running, hiking, snowboarding, and most recently, mountain biking. Eryn has been involved in the Indigenous Women Outdoors community since 2022, starting as a participant with the trail running mentorship program and eventually the ski/board backcountry program and mountain biking social rides.

Eryn is so excited to be joining IWO as the trail running program co-lead. She is passionate about decolonizing trail running by slowing down, emphasizing connection to the land and spirit, facilitating safe and inclusive spaces for everyone, and embracing all paces, distances, and bodies on the trails. She looks forward to building community with Indigenous women on the land in support of wholistic healing and wellness.
