Aiyana is a Board Secretary and Program Lead (Off-Piste and Introduction to Backcountry Safety program) at Indigenous Women Outdoors (IWO). She began her journey with the organization as a participant in IWO’s first-ever program, the Introduction to Backcountry Mentorship Program. She was a part of the 2020/2021 season cohort and has remained involved with IWO ever since. Aiyana is Nēhiyawak/Cree from White Fish Nation on her mother’s side and settler Canadian on her father’s side. Aiyana is passionate about fostering outdoor spaces that respect and celebrate Indigenous ways of being. Currently based on the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples, she is dedicated to advancing inclusive, culturally grounded outdoor programming.
